The object is to get that big order to fill, and so there are eight different MPID (market participants) sitting on the ask at $2.00.

If my interpretation is correct, those orders are there to create the impression (for someone who wants to sell) that there is no way they'll be able to get a sale at $2.00, so it's best for them to just dump into the bid for $0.01 less.

Oh, look at that. Someone just dumped over 10K into the bid.
