RE: Positive from PQ yesterday

RE: Positive from PQ yesterday

Quebec is so concerned about their precious environment its ridiculous. Do Quebecers really think that they cannot enjoy their envoronment AND still have a thriving oil and gas industry? Does it have to be one way or the other? There are thousands of Quebecers that could benefit from good paying jobs in the oil and gas sector but Instead they are sitting around unemployed. Is there not a group of Quebecers that can figure out how to extract natural gas using "best practice" methods that will not destroy the environment? If not, that doesn't say a whole lot about the intelligence pool of this province. The current government would like to introduce laws that would prohibit fracking on a permanent basis. I admit that I do not understand why they believe these laws are necessary. Quebecers seem to understand these laws very well. I would hope they also understand the laws of gravity that suggest when fracking fluid is pumped into the ground thousands of feet below the water table it is not possible for it to migrate upwards (through rock) to poison the water. Its true...I'm not making it up...read any book about the subject and it will say the same thing.I'd be willing to bet a plate of poutine and two tickets to the next Habs game on it...oops I forgot, those frenchmen aren't working either but that's another story.

If Martine Ouellet believes fracking cannot be done safely why do they have to initiate another study? What's the point? Is she even going to read the report that will be completed next fall. Could you imagine if Quebec courts acted the same way? The defendant is found guilty of all of his/her charges before the lawyers make their opening remarks to the jury because the judge decides the evidence in the case is irrelevent. The judge dedides to go right to the sentencing phase. Most people would say "hold on, that can't happen....that's not right..we should hear the evidence and then make up our mind collectively." However, Martine  Ouellet has already made up her mind without knowing the facts and she is an elected Minister !! This is absoloutely unbelievable that she can say something like that. is this the PQ way of doing things? Forget rationale and facts....we will govern by what we believe and not what can be proven. I pity the people of Quebec. The "leaders" you have elected lack common sense. The province will unfortunately suffer as a result and a greater burden will be forced upon the next generation who will pay for the mistakes made today. Great legacy PQ, great legacy!
