SpectraScience
SpectraScience Is anyone familiar with SpectraScience? They use a similar laser technology to detect cancers in endoscopic procedures which greatly reduces the need for biopsies. I saw the company present to a small room of investors last week. Most investors were skeptical of why a hospital would not just biopsy every single concerning looking area. The company also uses a "tip" that is disposable and apparently the cost of the units is in the low tens of thousands of dollars. I'm speculating that the same technology used here could be applied to lung cancer but I'm not sure.
These guys have an FDA approval for earlier versions of their device, although they're on a 4th generation model now and don't want to sell the earlier models in the market since the new generation is more advanced. They have a partnership deal with Pentax to sell the units. https://www.spectrascience.com/index.php/news/spectrascience-signs-europe-and-middle-east-distribution-agreement - The company's distribution deal with Pentax is a big deal as Pentax is selling the device for the company. I'd like to see Verisante get something like this.
I'm curious if anyone on the board here is familiar with the technology and how it compares to Verisante's. The CEO made it sound like their Specificity rates are better than Verisante's but comparing Aura to WavSTAT obviously isn't a like for like...Core would be better. In any case, I thought the board here would be interested.
