even if the losses are the same with the shell pipeline, as long as you are running operations on a net positive margin, the more oil that is flowing the more cashflow you'll see.

 

the above being said, I think, the current pipeline operator is just fudging the numbers.  I have a hard time imagining so much oil is actually being taken by a third party.  how would one walk away with so much oil?  anyway, just a total guess on my part.
