Tempet in a teapot

Tempet in a teapot

Our resident contributor has created a tempest in a teapot with the grades reported by San Gold. If you look at the report you can see milled and mined quantities are in tons. The grade is reportd in g/tonne. A tonne is  metric ton which is 1000 kg or 2200 pounds where a ton is 2000 pound so you can see the grade they report is going to be 1.1 times greater than if the grade was reported in g/ton.

Q3 Production Highlights

-- Record gold production of 27,084 ounces. -- Mill production of 191,105 tons. -- Mine production of 143,949 tons.

Third Quarter 2012 Preliminary Operating Results

San Gold produced 27,084 ounces of gold in the third quarter, bringing year-to-date production to 67,487 ounces. The operation milled a record 191,105 tons in the quarter at an average daily throughput of 2,077 tons per day, a 53% increase over the third quarter of 2011. Mill recovery was 93.3%. Milled grade was 5.21 grams per tonne which is slightly below the previous quarter.
