Osisko Founder Retires

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 15, 2012) - Osisko Mining Corporation (the "Company" or Osisko") (TSX:OSK)(FRANKFURT:EWX) reluctantly reports the retirement from management and the board of directors of Mr. Robert Wares, P.Geo., Osisko founder and former President, current Executive Vice-President, Exploration and Resource Development. Bob started Osisko Exploration Ltee in 1998, and in 2004 identified Canadian Malartic as a potential bulk tonnage mine. His work led directly to the initial acquisition of the project, and his guiding hand on exploration led to the ultimate discovery of over 13 million ounces of gold, truly a feat accomplished by few explorationists in the sum of their careers. Through the past several years, Bob has been recognized by the mining industry for his transformational work at Osisko. As a geoscientist, discoverer, developer, philanthropist and a leader, he has few equals in the Canadian mining industry. Singularly, and in some instances together with other co-founders and co-workers, Bob has been recognized over the past several years with the AEMQ Prospector of the Year Award, and Entrepreneur of the Year Award; the PDAC Prospector of the Year Award, and Developer of the Year Award; been named Northern Miner's "Mining Men of the Year"; to name but a few. In the spring of 2012, Bob's achievements and contributions to the field of geology were recognized with an honourary Doctorate from McGill University, his alma mater.

While Bob is retiring from active management and direction of the Company, he may continue from time to time to assist Osisko's future growth in a consulting capacity. The board, management, and employees of Osisko Mining Corporation wish to thank Bob for his vision and enormous contributions to the Company, and extend to him their heartfelt and sincerest gratitude for all that he has done.
