The Letter C after SVL in the US
Not sure this has been discussed before.
I have been a shareholder of SVL/SVLC for quite some time. However, I notice that SVL carries a letter C after the SVL for us US holders. That letter C means that " the issuer has been granted an extension of qualification standards by NASDAQ for a limited time."
This, I think, refers back to at least 2010 when SVL tried to get a listing in the US and ran into trouble with the NASDAQ over some filing requirements.
Back in December of 2010 I tried to buy some more SVL on line through Schwab here in the states and was told I could NOT buy any more Silvercrest in an existing or new account. I was told the SEC here in the states was reviewing the company registration of Silvercrest, since certain requirements had not been met.
Silvercrest was formerly known as Strathclair (the original shell). Even though Strathclair has been out of the picture since 1999, I think, the SEC's complaint stated that Strathclair has not filed required papers with the SEC going back to 1999, nor had they responded to requests from the SEC.
To protect their investors in SVL, Schwab said they would allow a holder of SVL to either cover a short position or sell their existing position, I guess back to Canadian investors. But no new buys for US customers.
Lately, I have been able to buy SVLC without any difficulty here in the US through schwab, so it looks like the problem may have been solved, though the letter C is still there.
FWIW.
