SLW has been around 8 years now, and still has no direct competition. When Nolan Watson started Sandstorm, he said he expected it to be a billion dollar company before any potential competitors would notice. Well folks, it's over a billion now and so far nobody else is even out of the starting gate. He's been asked frequently why no one else is nipping at his heels, and his answer is simple: It ain't that easy.
Being such a nice guy and all ;-) he's also said that competition will only further validate the business model in the eyes of the market, and that there is plenty of room in the SANDbox for others to play along. (Good luck finding a CEO of Watson's caliber, however.)
