RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: chuck16 Here's something to consider. If these assets are so valuable why are Canadian/USA large cap oil/gas companies not willing to buy them.? Suncor,Imperial, Husky & many others have decently clean balance sheets so why not take a position for the future & buy them adding SH Value?
The answer is of course our oil/gas is NAmerican land locked & we don't even have a decent pipeline West/East here in Canada, Between the aboriginals & environmentalists getting project approval is brutal. And modt likely it's because of self interest rather than what is best for the country that will kill Canadas ability to trade globally.
There are so many self interest groups taking a stand using the environment as a prop to further their own goals & agendas that Canada will be left behind when the USA becomes self sufficient & not dependent on our oil/gas.
The value is in exporting the gas/oil out of the country. Whenever a company wants to build an upgrader to keep the jobs in Canada the public rises up & says not in my back yard but they sure love the income oil/gas bring to their communities. Canada should be building bitumin upgraders to start expoting the finished product instead of sending ourr raw product out of counrty along with the jobs.
You can't have it both ways when you live in a commodity dependent country. Unless Canada is planning on switching to a high tech job counrty the aboriginals & other self interest groups had better sit up & take notice. We are now in the 21st Century but the aboriginals still think as though the 19th Century is the next one on the calender. Maybe if the Government quit the hand outs to all these special interest groups they would realize just how dependent their lives are on commodities.
