Berkwood Discovers New Mineralized Area at Lac Gue

Berkwood Discovers New Mineralized Area at Lac Gue

Berkwood Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: BKR) is pleased to provide this interim report on the Lac Gueret East Graphite Property (the "Property"), located approximately 290 km north of Baie-Comeau, Quebec. The objective of the phase 1 and 2 work program is to delineate prospective Graphite zones, consisting of an airborne electromagnetic survey, surface work follow up, stripping and trenching, with the objective of generating new targets for drill testing.

The initial phase of the 2012 Field Work Program is underway. During prospecting the first Graphite bearing zone on the Property has been discovered. The Graphite bearing zone, which is traceable at surface extends a minimum of 55 metres, has a mean true width of 4-5 metres and is trending NE. Graphite occurs as flake crystals. Rock Samples have been sent to AGAT Labs for assays. Results of the assays from prospecting and other fieldwork will be released when received by the company. To view maps of the Property and new photos from the 2012 Field work, click the following link: https://www.berkwoodresources.com/lac-gueret-east.html.

This news release has been reviewed and approved by Alain Moreau, P. Geo., who supervised the preparation of the technical information in this news release. Alain Moreau a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.

The Lac Gueret East Graphite Property:

The Lac Gueret East Graphite Property consists of 59 claims totalling 3186 Ha and borders the eastern boundary of Mason Graphite's advanced Lac Gueret Property. A 2009 technical report by Tekhne Research which covered 17% of Mason Graphite's Lac Gueret Property resulted in a resource of 7.5 million tonnes measured and indicated grading 20.4% Graphite.

The Lac Gueret East Graphite Property has similar geological characteristics as that observed at Mason Graphite's Lac Gueret Property located adjacent and to the west of the Lac Gueret East Graphite Property. The Lac Gueret East Property is situated in the Paleoproterozoic Gagnon Terrain which is considered a para-autochton unit fertile for graphite in the Grenville Province of Quebec and includes biotite/garnet/sillimanite/graphite paragneisses, dolomitic marbles and intrusive rocks. Graphite in the area is present in marbles and in contact with or within paragneisses and ranges from 3% to 40% Cg (Carbon Graphite) exhibiting flakes up to 5 mm in diameter. Large flake graphite is generally considered from 0.2 mm or more in size.

Investors are cautioned that the graphite mineralization in the adjacent property is not an indication that similar mineralization will be found in the Lac Gueret East Graphite Property, which is still in an early stage of exploration.

About Berkwood Resources:

Berkwood also holds a 100% interest in the Company's flagship property, the Prospect Valley Gold Property located near Merritt, BC. Several areas of gold mineralization have been identified on the 10,871 Ha property. The majority of historic drilling has taken place in the centre of the claim block along the Discovery Trend. This drilling has outlined an extensive low grade epithermal gold system with indications of potential for additional and higher grade mineralization. The system remains open for expansion and other known zones of gold mineralization have yet to be drilled (see Berkwood news release dated January 25, 2012 for details).

Berkwood recently acquired an option to earn a 100% interest in The Peter Lake Copper Property. The Peter Lake Copper Property consists of 24 claims totalling 1403 Ha located in the Mont-Laurier Terrane, in the Central Grenville Province, Quebec. Recently six check grab samples were collected from the two main mineralized zones at Peter Lake and returned assays ranging from 0.42% to 22.83% Copper and 0.13% to 0.73% Nickel as well as elevated gold, silver and cobalt values. A phase 1 exploration program is underway on the property consisting of channel sampling and preparation for Bulk Sampling. The planned Bulk Samples are to be taken from the mineralized zones (about 2,000 tonnes) for metallurgical testing, and to determine bulk copper and nickel grades for comparison with mean channel sampling grades to guide future work.
