RE: 99.9 %

Icefish,

your post says:  "It is possible to upgrade graphite to 99.99% but important to remember that it costs to do so.

If the graphite starts with a high number of impurities  the cost to upgrade it negate or minimize the net price."

These are important points, especially  when the starting graphite (ore/concentrate) has many nasty stuff the the cost to remove them by using more expensive processing involving more potent chemicals. Then there are environmental issues for disposing the impurities and the chemicals used in the process (= money). The flake size is another key factor. Mechanical loss from using smaller size flakes for the upgrading to 99.9 or 99.99% suitable for "up-scale" applications, such as Li-ion baterry,  could be huge, say 70% or more compared to 50% or less for larger flakes (= money as well).

Upgrading is a complex issue, one cannot just claim "ore grade is king" (grade is an important factor though). There are much more before saying "yah, it can be done, and we can do it" without backing it  up the claims with detailed technical (and the cost) justifications (such as, purification test results from accredited labs) in compliance with standards like NI-43-101. The upgrading cost could be horrendous to fetch the top range price (say $8-20k) for the 99.99% products.
