RE: RE: Telus hikes dividend as profit rises on su Telus will go up, but $100 per share is way into the speculation based pricing rather than fundamentals. $75 is more doable rather than $100 a share. Unless Bell collapse overnight and all their subscribers go to telus. Telus need to really step up and be the first giant telecom company to try and match mobilicity type plans especially now that iphone 5 is losing customer base why more and more younger generation rather prefer a cheaper, stronger, and better Nexus/Samsung type phone.
The greater aspect for growth potential is the data business. Tablets will be the next big thing as more and more people buy tablet and want data for it. Data is already very important in phones and charging customer $80 a month for a plan similar for mobilicity which offers $35 a month unlimited verything is a far cry from being competitive.
The advantage of offering incentive for contracts to get iphon 5 and pricy phones is dying. This industry is maturing into a more competitive and low margin/high volume type business as found in more develop and high population countries.
All that being said, Canada is still very slow in this type of develoopment and Telus still have room to grow. I for one is a Telus investor, but I personally will get my phone and plans from mobilicity and save much more than $1000 over 3 years.
