Well, the way it's going lately, in the worst case, in a couple of years the company goes into production, and then even though the share price might still be .50, they'll probably be able to pay 2.50/share in dividends, so it will work out ok - a little worse on the tax side, but still not bad, and then when they've finished producing, you sell the shares at .50 and get a nice capital loss.
