RE: On the other hand; Log on to..... A project proposal was filed with the NIRB for the Kiggavik project on November 25th, 2012. Exactly 4 years later, and the project's still stuck in the mud of the NIRB process, which includes this kind of grandstanding:
*
After the environmental impact statement is revised twice Areva is flooded with information requests from "the Government of Nunavut , the Kivalliq Inuit Association, the Baker Lake Hunters and Trappers Organization, the Beverly and Qamanirjuaq Caribou Management Board, Nunavummiut Makitagunarningit, the Lutsle K’e Dene First Nation, the Canadian Arctic Resources Committee, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, and several federal government departments."
*
Areva is supposed to have detailed responses to this flood of requests within 30 days! Does this process make any sense?
*
But the delays are probably all Areva's fault because the NIRB, as we all know, has such an outstanding record of quick efficient evironmental reviews. They're the gold standard of review boards.
