I can't see them going private.  The risk involved with this company is pretty high and they would have to find a private equity firm willing to buy that risk along with their debt (as I can't see a management buyout happening here).  Even if they are successful in finding a buyer I don't think that the valuation of the company will be in the .10 to .12 range.  We would have to see between 0.50 and 0.75 based on assets and I.P..  I could be way off here but you asked for someone elses thoughts.
