You make a very good point.  Someone on this site awhile back said they shut down for a weekend to upgrade.  I wonder what they upgraded?  Ihave an idea.  These systems are just one long line.  Sometimes there are bottlenecks in the system.  In the places where I worked, it was mostly the crushers that were the bottlenecks.  The converyors and the rest of the system could handle much more but the crushers couldn't. 

When we upgraded, we would often put in new and better equipment beside the old and then tie it in quickly as we could on a weekend to prevent a lot of down time.  Maybe they did something like this.
