Art, it is a bit of mining nickname history - in the 1960's fairly modest Rio Tinto started the first of its major mergers with Consolidated Zinc - thus Rio Tinto Zinc, RTZ, or said as R T Zed - and the name still sticks past many further consolidations and notwithstanding stock tickers.
