The whole cause for concern here is that BB10 will offer tiered service plans, with one of those "plans" being no service at all.  That has the potential to take a massive bite out of the approximately $1B per quarter of very high-margin service revenue RIM brings in.  Read Chris U.'s post over at Crackberry tonight for more insight into this issue.

 

We need to know how RIM is planning to offset these losses in service revenue.  Tonight they had no concrete answers, hence the fall in price.  There are rumors of new services in the offing (e.g. what about making BBM cross-platform and charging a small monthly fee for secure messaging?), but it's questionable whether they'll be able to offset their gradual decrease in BB7 service revenues.  They just left the entire issue up in the air.
