RE: Hormones?
RE: Hormones? Because Tefina is administered on demand only and the dose of testosterone is extremely low, side effects normally associated with testosterone replacement in women are not expected to occur. So far, blood tests have confirmed that T levels fall back to prior levels within 24 hours of Tefina use. Tefina's action is quick - 30 minutes to an hour - and begins to fall off after several hours. The large Phase II currently in progress should further confirm the absence of side effects.
For men, keep in mind T replacement has been FDA approved for many years. In general T therapy is considered safe and side effects are not common. One must weigh side effects of treatment with symptoms and changes that occur with low T:
"Symptoms of testosterone deficiency include the following:
- decreased S drive
- decreased sense of well-being
- depressed mood
- difficulties with concentration and memory
- ED
Changes that occur with testosterone deficiency include:
- a decrease in muscle mass, with an increase in body fat
- variable effects on cholesterol metabolism
- a decrease in hemoglobin and possibly mild anemia
- fragile bones (osteoporosis)
- a decrease in body hair
What are the side effects of testosterone replacement therapy?
In general, hormone replacement therapy is safe. It is associated with some side effects, including:
- acne or oily skin
- mild fluid retention
- stimulation of prostate tissue, with perhaps some increased urination symptoms such as decreased stream or frequency
- breast enlargement
- worsening of sleep apnea (a sleep disorder that results in frequent night time awakenings and daytime sleepiness)
- decreased testicular size
Many of these side effects are not common."
