LONDON, ON, Jan. 9, 2013 /CNW/ - Fortune Minerals Limited (TSX: FT) (OTCQX: FTMDF) ("Fortune" or the "Company") (www.fortuneminerals.com) is pleased to announce that on December 19, 2012 it closed the purchase of lands near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on which the Company proposes to build its Saskatchewan Metals Processing Plant ("SMPP") for the NICO gold-cobalt-bismuth-copper project. Rezoning of the 482 acre property is underway as the Company nears completion of the permitting process in two jurisdictions. NICO is a planned vertically integrated project consisting of an open pit and underground mine and mill in the Northwest Territories ("NT") and refinery in Saskatchewan where concentrates from the mill will be processed
