On January 18 starts dialogue to resolve conflict generated Cañariaco mining project
09/01/2013.- On 18 January there will be a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM), the regional government of Lambayeque and Command Control Unit to address the problems created in the following district Cañaris Cañariaco project running Candente Copper.
 
In making the announcement, the regional president, Humberto Acuña, said that the last Monday held talks with Minister of Energy and Mines Jorge Merino Tafur, and agreed to hold this coordination meeting prior to the formal establishment of a dialogue with the Candente presence of the mining and farming community Cooper San Juan de Canaris.
 
About 11 leaders of Canaris, led by the chairman of the Special Committee on Land Cañaris landholders, Second Rinza Rodriguez, were in favor of a modern mining, responsible and environmentally friendly.
 
In meeting with the manager of Production, Francisco Rojas Roalcaba, and general secretary, Alberto Garcia Clement indicated that not all residents of Cañaris are against mining.
 
Command Control Unit intends to ignore the consultation last summer and instead, validate another held in September where the opposition won the project.
