Because there were no bids, a shareholder couldn't sell on the open market to realize a loss for tax purpose.

 

Two options then:

 

1. Can use Section 50(1) if ITA to claim a full loss, if think CCAA process was the end of Futura. A short explanation to th tax people would suffice. ie: Money owing by Futura is far greater than their assets). If Futura bounces back in 2013 and then sell shares, the full amount is taken into income. However, the CCAA process itself does not prove Futura is finished, so can't use 50(1).

 

2. A block trade is the other option way. But this is for tax loss purpose and in no way can be used as an indicator that Futura's stock will increase.

 

But block trades now, would signal something else. Especially before a major news release which has to come soon. Good news or otherwise.
