RE: RE: Troy MSHA violations
RE: RE: Troy MSHA violations I think Troy was shut down to preempt the MSHA. The mine is now shuit down for a month and potentially management is still grasping the scope of the mine repairs at Troy demanded by the MSHA or negotiating with regulators about exactly what must be done ala Lucky Friday. Depending on the amount of shotcreting and bracing, the necessary underground repairs could be very time consuming and expensive indeed. Does RVM have the balance sheet to weather a longer shutdown of Troy? To me the lack of disclosure by the company regarding the MSHA violations suggests a very bad outcome. In my opinion the real problem with the operations at Troy is that when the democratic congressional campaign committee called last fall looking for campaign cash, RVM did not generously give to such a just cause. Furthermore in my opinion RVM management should have paid better attention when that mine inspector mentioned in casual conversation last spring that he really would like a new deck on his house in time for the summer 2012 BBQ season.
