Hi Small Bet:

You are right Husky is close to MGM. Below is a link to a map of the oil developments.

The other interesting thing to note is how Conoco's winter roads are tieing to the Husky all-weather road. You can start to see the outline of an all-weather main highway on the west side of the river.

Notice also how Conoco has crossed the Mackenzie River at Norman Wells with its ice bridge. I anticipate that this will be the Enbridge Pipeline crossing and potential ferry crossing. Enbridge pumping stations are located at Norman Wells and it will be the supply base for the field. There will be a lot of people and equipment communting between the oil field and the town over time.

As an aside, I spoke to someone at the Department of Transport for NWT and they told me that they will be submitting an application soon for the Mackenzie Valley Highway. It looks like it will be built in chunks as that is how the Federal Government wants to do it. The first chunk may be theall weather section from Norman Wells to Tulita with a bridge across the Great Bear River. This would lengthen the season for trucking by 3 weeks.
