RE: Now that politics have entered the equation I agree. The problem however, with Quebecers, in my opinion, is their mindset. If they believe that fracking is dangerous and it will ruin and waste their precious water it won't matter how much relevant scientific evidence you put in front of them, they won't believe it. The ignorance and stubborness runs very deep in this province. When people are ignorant and don't understand something new to them, they generally oppose it because they don't like change. Fracking is very new to them....for the rest of the informed world, they know the benefits of fracking for oil and gas have safely been used for over 60 years. Many Quebecers don't know this because they have grown upelying on the english west for all their energy needs...they've never been able to figure out how to support themselves. They would rather live the rest of their lives like a dependant child than try to be self supportive. I hope this issue can be resolved but the Quebecers who are in opposition seem to have a much louder voice that those in favor of tapping into those lucrative resources.
Two last thoughts:
1. Quebec...if you want to be independant you need to have your own energy plan...this is your chance to prove you really want sovereignty.
2. People of Gaspe....If you are so worried about your precious water, why don't you ban the millions of gallons of water that go down the drain (literally) at car washes. Fracking uses water in order to produce energy so there is a positive net result...what do your car washes produce?
There is so much hypocricy...but so little common sense.
