MEM: Cañariaco project was approved in General Assembly convened and no other
Deputy Minister of Mines, Guillermo Shinno dismissed the possibility of a new assembly to approve or disapprove the final exploration stage mining project running Cañariaco Canadian company Candente Cooper in the district of San Juan de Canaris (Lambayeque), as is demanding a group of people.
"At the general meeting of July 8, 2012 was approved to support the mining project in regards to the latest exploration campaign. I have the Public Records tab and figure that about 750 villagers were in favor of the project and who live in the area, "he said.
"The rules are clear and we have to enforce the laws. A Communities Act, which states that for a community to grant a permit in this case to a mining company has to be through a general meeting duly called, "he added.
In this regard, said that in order to guide the population scopes copper project, from 24 to 25 January will be an informative workshop on the development plan that aims to improve quality of life of the population in the district of Canaris.
