Only in Quebec

Only in Quebec

Only in Quebec would you have the mayor of a one horse town put the brakes on an oil project that believes they have close to 8 million barrels of oil only a few kilometers from the town !! I live in Saskatchewan. If a small town mayor in Saskatchewan (with zero oil and gas experience) decided to ignore the laws of he province, stifle a viable operation (that requires NO FRACKING) that would bring jobs, taxes and spinoff revenue to a depressed area he/she would be run out of the town and be told never to return. However, in the great province of Quebec the guy is a local hero. He probably sold used cars before becoming the mayor and will do the same once he is replaced....but now....while he has a little power... he forces a company who has followed all the provincial rules and regulations, obtained a legal permit to drill,  shown total transparency to the members of the town, hid NOTHING, spent millions of dollars to help the local economy to put their operation on hold. Incredible!!

How can anyone dispute what I've said many times before about the collective intelligence of this province? How does the general public elect their leaders? You seem to seek out the most beligerant, ignorant, anti-business, tree hugging candidates to run for office because thats exactly who you have running the local and provincial politics. Quebecers are all gonna be on the same ship as it sinks but you do nothing to help yourselves.

The people of Saskatchewan are (for the most part) friendly, hardworking people. Most of all though, we have common sense and try to support ourselves and you know what?.....it works !!! Our province is thriving!! We have the lowest unemployment in Canada and have more jobs than we have people. This is partly because we develop our resources and don't rely on handouts from the other provinces....and collectively...we don't have the Quebec attitude of self entitlement. You may think I am wrong or exaggerating but our numbers don't lie. When a province (collectively) works hard and is able to work through issues constructively, everyone prospers.

Sadly, Quebec hasn't learned this lesson...maybe they never will. They are destined to keep building their debt and passing it on to the next generation. What a horrible legacy. Shame on you Quebec for not helping yourselves, shame on you !!
