MICROPLANET ANNOUNCES FOLLOW-ON ORDER FROM AUSTRALIAN UTILITY
MicroPlanet Technology Corp. has received initial payments for a follow-on order from SA Power Networks of Australia, formerly known as ETSA Utilities. The sale of 20 low-voltage regulator 2s and two of the new smart voltage regulators was facilitated by MicroPlanet's Australian distributor, Brisbane-based SmartGrid Partners.
SA Power Networks operates the South Australian electricity distribution network and is the fifth-largest utility in the Australian national electricity market. The company's network services about 830,000 residential and business customers throughout South Australia.
This follow-on order of LVRs after its first order nine months ago demonstrates confidence in MicroPlanet technology and that the company's products are becoming standard equipment more widely deployed by the nation's largest rural electrical utilities. The LVR 2 offers an efficient and cost-effective way to improve power quality and maintain voltage compliance to individual customers. "We look forward to obtaining more consistent orders from SA Power Networks and our other utility customers as they continue to adopt and implement our technology," stated Brett Ironside, MicroPlanet president and chief executive officer.
Perhaps more importantly, the order included two new MicroPlanet three-phase SVRs for SA Power Networks to trial and assess for performance characteristics and potential applications in its three-phase LV network. The SVR is a much larger unit than the LVR 2 with many more applications, and as stated in prior releases helps solve distributed generation integration challenges that are becoming common with utilities in Australia. The SVR is MicroPlanet's stand-alone unit containing the same technologies that Tyree Industries Pty. Ltd. recently licensed. MicroPlanet is well into prototyping the technology into distribution transformers, creating the Regformer. "We expect these two products will be complementary in their respective segments, accelerating the sales of each other in their own target markets as users learn and understand the features and applications," continued Mr. Ironside.
