So fear became a commodity when this ETF was released... it always was indirectly. Great for a short term (couple week) trade.

FEAR (VXX-ipath)

GLD (SPDR)

But I have always liked gold (and related) in a comparison and you can see why... there are also other wonderful shorts out there when the market starts to top out.
