As a pilot I can say these pilots would have been certified with a Type Rating on the CRJ200. I would speculate this landing was a Cat III landing in heavy fog and weather was a factor where a diversion may have been an appropriate action. It is wise to learn from the mistakes of others as we will never live long enough to make them all ourselves. This accident investigation will reveal the probability of what happened.
