Does anyone know what will be done with the original furnace? Maybe it will be used elsewhere or perhaps returned for a refund. Either way it would still have considerable value.

Quite possible that the company may wish to keep it for the purpose of reminding the unrepentant bashers and shorters as to the fate that shall await them -- the formidable "Gehenna" fire!  ;-)
