Whither Gold

Whither Gold

I have always been contrarian, which I suppose is my long dance with Armistice.  They are the little company that could, er, trying to get it right and prosper.  It was probably the fact that my best friend's father was a geologist with the mine when the first gold brick was poured way back in the 40's.  Heck of a long time ago for the mine, not so long ago for us.

We first visited the mine toward the end of their underground cleanup, the hoist was upgraded and working, they were painting, fixing, installing, etc.   Even though I had a hard time squeezing into my gear, rubbers, slicker, battery belt, helmet and light, etc. the journey below was highly interesting.  In the yard, they had portable crusher running in the yard.  I remember that being their first bulk sample of new material.  Afterward, the Toddster paid for lunch!

After lunch we toured the little museum and Todd showed us the scale model of the old Kerr Addison mine.  The old mine when almost straight down in a bulbous manner, with drifts and sills running running in all directions.  And importantly, toward the current Az workings.  Before leaving we stopped at the local gas station and found gas was a few cents cheaper than in Kirkland Lake.  When I asked the fellow how he could afford the difference, he simply said, "Volume.  I sell more gas for higher profits."  Wonder if he's still in business.

That was then, this is now.  I still have faith they will pull this baby out of the woods and into full production.  There are few anxious months ahead before that happens.

As a contrarian I get a little jittery nowadays when reading through the many conspiracy stories, and speculations upon where the financial institutions are heading over the next year or so.  It looks like the American dollar is for a s*ite-kicking, sooner rather than later.  With gold, the Germans and others are getting antsy over whether their gold stored in the USA is still there, and not just gold plated titanium.  When the dust has settled, I would expect gold to form a new basis for monetary evaluation.

The latest edition of 24hGold arrive this morning.  The article: Pitched Currency War & USDollar Rejection https://www.24hgold.com/english/news-gold-silver-pitched-currency-war--usdollar-rejection.aspx?article=4229595454G10020&redirect=false&contributor=Jim+Willie+CB&mk=1 is well worth reading.  Even if you do not agree with the full content, many of the points are valid, if only as a reference point heading into 2013.

Keep your powder dry, or more succinctly, be prepared and save your resources until needed.
