Representatives believe Cañariaco generate economic development in the district.
A minority of the rural community of San Juan Cañaris (Ferreñafe-Lambayeque) denounced the illegitimacy its chairman Christopher Barrios Carrillo, who, as indicated, should have left office in December last year, and hence its position against Cañariaco .
Aquilino Huaman, who belongs to one of the 45 sectors of the community, said that the mandate of Christopher Barrios finished in October last year, but to date continues to exert itself.
"The elections should be the last year because he (Barrios), has four consecutive years in office. In December 2012 meeting convened to form the electoral committee and only arrived 25 villagers and 6 delegates, when the San Juan de Canaris has 45 sectors, ie the half came to that meeting, "said Huaman.
Alongside Aquino Huaman, other representatives, agreed to ignoring Barrios as the legitimate president of the community and therefore ignore the anti-mining opposition it has generated a potential social conflict like the one in Cañaris Cajamarca with Conga, adding that the project will generate Cañariaco economic development of that district.
As recalled, Cristobal Barrios has expressed total disagreement on Cañariaco mining project, the same that is in the exploration stage, a fact that has caused villagers ferreñafano district of Canaris face the National Police looking for the stoppage of the mining project.
