Prosecutor investigates complaints of threats against commoners Kañaris. Deposed governor of Pucara, Leoncio Avellaneda Balcazar, could go to jail for conspiring against the public order.
The Attorney General's Office of Perú began an investigation after community members and leaders of the rural community of San Juan de Kañaris arrive in Lima to denounce coming under pressure and threats from radical groups anti-mining.
Kañaris leaders met with President of the Council of Ministers Juan Jimenez, to explain the needs of its people and to put to sustainable development projects seeking to escape from extreme poverty. However, they also realized that the threats are victims of extremist factions.
Former President of the community of Kañaris, Christopher Barrios Carrillo, was designated as the promoter of violence against a mining company performing exploration work in the area. Barrios Carrillo would also masterminding a campaign of intimidation against farmers who do not comply with their calls for strikes and take the roads.

Jimenez contacted to Cesar Huaman Lucero (president of the association Kañaris Defense Front) with Attorney General Jose Antonio Pelaez Bardales, who assured him that public prosecutors would be established in the area to initiate a criminal investigation against Barrios and radicals in general.
