RE: RE: Great news! CRS has a New CEO Looking at my most recent post it strikes me that my message is apt to come across as somewhat mean-spirited, which is not really what I'm comfortable with. I'm a Canadian and as such I would love to see CRS succeed on the LED world stage. It's just that when I see the CRS-Energizer products in Canadian Tire and compare them to the Cree-LED-downlight and Philips LED lights in Home Depot, and then I look at CRS's financials, it strikes me as obvious that you have to be in denial to think that CRS can survive.
An interesting and sensible question is whether or not Sylvania (carried by Lowe's) will survive in LEDs. I doubt they will because the Cree and Philips products are so much better. Home Depot made a good move in getting an exclusive with Philips. (Lowes and Rona generally carry stuff that's just as good as Home Depot's stuff but in LEDs they're hardly even in the game, in my humble estimation.)
But if it's a legitimate question as to whether or not Sylvania will survive in LED lights then when I turn to CRS I don't see how one could even see it as being in the game at all. I realize that what CRS has in Canadian Tire is not the whole story but I'm sure it provides enough of an indication.
It's not just CRS that I'm down on. There are many LED bulb-fixture makers that are going to get plowed under. I wouldn't invest in Revolution Lighting Technologies (formerly Nexxus), which is miles ahead of CRS. I'm confident they will also ultimately be buried by the big guys, though it will probably take longer. (I see Revolution has made a bit of a splash over the past few months with its acquisition of Seesmart Technologies. We'll see, but I suspect time will show that the sellers were smarter than the buyers.)
