Some numbers from Sept/09

Some numbers from Sept/09

No doubt these could be changed or more accurately modeled since that time. But here are some to chew on from the 'NI 43-101' on the company site:

The Serra Pelada Project .......
Geologically consists of metasediments of the Rio Fresco. zone
is mineralized within a sequence of low-grade metasedimentary rocks
metamorphic. The total ore reserve is four million tons with a content of 8.20
g / t gold, 1.70 g / t platinum and 2.65 g / t palladium, a total volume of metal
contained 33 t of gold, platinum and 6.8 t 10.6 t palladium. The underground mining provides a
mineable reserves for a period of eight years.

If you weight the recoveries of Pd/Pl (70%) and Au (90%) it ends up around 9.7 g/t Au equivalent. At 350,000 tons of ore mined per year that gives just over 100,000 oz/yr recovery. No doubt there would be substantial variation in grades from month to month as the highest grade pockets could skew the numbers like crazy. It seems to me like the mine entry is aimed toward the highest grades so maybe the first year or two might have greater production, though it would seem prudent to hold off processing the best grades until the processing is honed.

Not sure how close those numbers are to what will be in the official NI 43-101 but I suspect they won't be far off. The original pit (300x300x100m) represents about 15 million tons with a reported output of 2,000,000 oz Au (although who knows the quantity unreported).
