Jay Taylor, in the Jan. 17, 2013, edition of Gold, Energy & Tech Stocks, says buy Arianne Resources Inc., recently $1.24. This is the first time he has recommended the stock. Arianne's Lac a Paul phosphate project in Northern Quebec has proven and probable reserves of 307 million tonnes at 6.59 per cent P2O5, and a net present value of $1-billion. Phosphate is an ingredient in fertilizer; Mr. Taylor says Arianne could receive takeover offers from fertilizer giants such as Agrium Inc., the Mosaic Company and Potash Corp. In six months, Agrium is closing its Kapuskasing mine (Ontario), the only producing phosphate mine in the country, because of depletion. Mosaic is facing environmental problems at its sedimentary-hosted phosphate mine in Florida. Mr. Taylor notes Lac a Paul is hosted in igneous rock, which comes with fewer environmental challenges than sedimentary rock does. Metallurgical tests show Lac a Paul can produce 39-per-cent concentrate, worth $280 a tonne, compared with $180 a tonne for the usual 30-per-cent concentrate. The optimistic editor says Lac a Paul could be worth $14 to $42 a share. Regardless of a buyout offer, he is confident in management's abilities to begin production by early 2016
