RE: RE: All or nothing stock (?)

Hi gadfly, I have never dealt with a novel food application like this, but with favours and other food additives. The link you post is from Netherlands who apparently has some concerns regarding the specifications and allergenic potential. Specifications should not be a big issues. Allergenicity? Every protein can be allergenic. I cannot image that a novel food does not get approval because of the allergenic risks. Also soy, milk, egg proteins are allergenic and can be life threatening for allergic human. So at the end of the day, also this should not be a reason for a refusal - but I do not know what kind of data the EFSA requires to give green light re allergenic risk. I hope there will be some interaction between the EFSA and Bioexx/Helm on this issue over the next months.

Aparently Netherlands had such concerns, but Netherlands is only one country, other countries may have expressed other concerns, there are 27 (?) EU Member States now in Europe.  I intend to check the EFSA webpage for all novel foods it has assessed and make a statistic about positive and negative outcomes - in one of the next weekends when there is bad weather.
