Update on current exploration work in Forécariah
Exploration work on the Forécariah permit is continuing. The Company completed all planned RCH and DDH drilling program necessary to enable a resource delineation assessment on the Wondima prospect and is now undertaking a maiden NI43-101 compliant resource report on this target. A total of 3,441 samples (including QA/QC samples), representing 384 reverse circulation drill holes (“RCH”) completed on the Wondima prospect and 557 samples (including QA/QC samples), representing 57 diamond drill holes (“DDH”) were shipped for analyses to Inspectorate Exploration & Mining Services Ltd, a Bureau Veritas company in Reno, Nevada, United States. Dispatched samples have been received and analyzed. The Company has received all assay data including QA/QC data set from the completed RCH and DDH. SRK Consulting (UK) Limited has completed a full QA/QC analysis of the drilling and assays database, as well as a site visit to the Wondima target in early September. The Company intends to release its NI43-101 report once comprehensive resource estimation and metallurgical testing (now underway) has been completed – currently expected during Q1 2013. Metallurgical research is underway at different laboratories to upgrade the Wondima iron ore to a marketable product. The main objective is to get an iron concentrate of around 62% Fe with the lowest possible level of impurities and moisture for shipping, The preliminary lab scale beneficiation tests conducted on composite drill core indicate that Fe mineral separation may require crushing finer than 2mm for optimal separation and the ore may require floatation for optimal beneficiation. At the moment mineralogical analysis is in progress to determine the mineralogical parameters that will lead to optimum crushing and recovery estimates. Once the tests are complete, bulk pilot scale tests will be undertaken to formulate an optimal process flow sheet.
