ADV = Mn, I am staying out I read the 43-101 on ADV about three years ago and was shocked when I discovered 2 or 3 pages on manganese in their deposit. That made me think about Wabush who has never been able to get Mn out of it's product, and has never undergone an expansion since it started in the 60s. That lead me to think about an article in McClean's magasin that I read when I was a kid about 50 years ago. It was about the mine developed by Canadian Javelin, a promoter who was a crook, and Jimmy Smallwood who was a naive prime minister of Newfoundland with lots of dreams for Labrador. Check out Can Jav in Goggle and wikipedia its all there. The crook is named and Smallwood was his gullible prey.
Who in their right mind would want to develope an iron ore mine with Mn in the product. Not many takers for such a product. To get it down to 2% they will have to operate more than one face at a time to be able to produce a blend. Why complicate your life from the beginning with such maneouvers?
The 43-101 was clear about the Mn being a problem. A few months latter I called the CIBCWG analyst that was going gaga about the next CLM and this promotor Moribito from Vancouver and I asked him what he thought of the Mn in the ore. For him it was just something that the engineers would deal with as part of the beneficiation and it happens all the time. He then asked who I was and hung up when I replied "a small investor".
I have been watching the show and am still not convinced that they will ever come into production. If by chance they do the only buy-out candidate for them would be Cliffs and guess what ? Cliffs already has all the Mn it wants and has its hands full with CLM anyway. Blending CLM with ADV would be a way to reduce the presence of Mn if they wanted to complicate their existance with such procedures.
The plans that I have seen concerning the port installations show enclosed conveyor galleries and interior clean-up with vaccuum cleaners. Imagine that. I sure would not want to be the operator of such an installation.
There is not much about ADV that appears to me as positive so I am staying out.
