You could easily attach a serial number to every share owned and be able to track it..   But that would eliminate counterfiet shares and back room deals if for example I could look up my share  and see the last time it was traded and where it was held.

I like that idea!  Saves one from having to order the certificates to prevent the shares from being shorted.
