Now if they meant in the case of a takeover, then that's a different story, but to say there's going to be an auction, well that's not what will happen.
If POET when it's at a commercial ready state (I should say IF, but let's assume it will even though the risk is there it may not), then if there's a suitor that thinks POET will fit into their portfolio, they may wish to make an offer.
If there's more than one potential suitor, then there may be a bidding war, not an auction.
As for there ever being a bidding war, you have to hope that the companies bidding are big enough, and don't have their own product in the works,which some do.
Lots of speculation here, and maybe that's why the price hasn't shot up like everyone had hoped, because there is lots of risk at this stage. JMO
