Daniel Botes joined Advanced Explorations as Chief Operating Officer and member of the Board of Directors in May 2007.  

Having completed a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1997 at the University of Pretoria, Daniel was employed in the Mining Division of Iscor Ltd in South Africa, which later became Kumba Resources. During his employment, he held the positions of Senior Industrial Engineer, Head of Quality Assurance, Technical Manager (Kumba Hong Kong), Marketing Manager, Iron Ore Manager and Head of Strategic Projects allowing him to gain wide experience in iron ore mining, iron ore marketing and business strategy. He held the position of Chief Operating Officer and Director of Roche Bay plc since June 2006 and transferred to AEI as a result of the AEI-Roche Bay Agreement.
