RE: RE: Vanadium Global Trends, featuring Largo Seems like a pretty reasonable forecast. It would be nice to have an idea of where the price will be in 2015 when all the development projects are on stream and supply meets/exceeds demand. The nice thing is that with this deposit and being a low-cost supplier (not to mention in the heart of the world's iron ore reserves) it will still be profitable for us long after others are ramping down production or temporarily shutting down. And of course, if we do see more development of batteries (whether flow-type or Lithium-ion) then that will really shake up the demand side of the picture.
We know that China's BYD is already developing cars using these batteries, that's definitely a start. I was interested to see in the March presentation that another facet in the automobile sector is the increased use of strengthened steel (presumably V but that's not explicitly stated) in several cars to reduce weights and improve fuel efficiencies. That was the first I heard of that (most steel-alloy demand increase we've been talking about has been use in infrastructure and buildings by developing countries) but it's an exciting development.
