Natural gas was last trading up by $0.08, or 1.94 percent, to $3.95/mmbtu—the highest level since October 2011. The latest weather forecasts show the potential for much-colder-than-normal temperatures across the East Coast and Midwest over the next two weeks.

"We see increased upside risk to our price forecasts of $3.75 per million Btu for the second and third quarters of 2013 and $4.25 per million Btu for 2014," Goldman Sachs said.
