RE: Vaccination Program People need to understand the difference between a mandate and a subsidy.
A mandate is unlikely for a good many reasons, some of which RHD has mentioned.
A subsidy on the other hand suffers from none of the issues that are listed (ie levies, import issues etc) and it is for precisely this reason that a subsidized vaccination program is what is being driven. You need only read the recent publication and the language contained therein regarding adoption of a vaccine IF it is made available to cattlemen as an indication that a subsidy is the way BNC is pushing. A subsidy gets us off the mark, and buys us time until other jurisdictions with more balls (see UK, Sweden, Japan) mandate.
My only question regarding a subsidy is whether BNC will receive dollars outside of the Agri-Innovation program or not. It's my hope that the exceptional value prop of the vaccine would warrant special treatment, especially on the heels of the XL fiasco and thus not require BNC to line up with the pimple faced post doc students for some 'Innovation' pennies.....
