RE: Idle TOO MUCH

RE: Idle TOO MUCH

I do agree with some of your comments Rockhound.   There is still a strong stigmatism among natives, - everything is the white man's fault.   While some of this statement is true,  it is not all true.  I have heard and read of native members sabatoging other fellow natives from starting their own productive business's.   Chief's live in luxury, while native residents have no running water or sewer.  Who is at fault here.  A reserve  that is situated in such a location that there will never be any type of lucrative employment.   How do you break the cycle?   As with many problems, it all starts at home.  And it must start within the native population themselves.  You already have free education available.  However, you cannot force someone to go to school.  The cycle of endless blaming must stop.    I fully agree with nosleeps comments also.   Nothing is free.   It is like the Quebec students wanting free tuition.   Free?   Somewhere, someone has to pay for whatever the next person gets free.  There is no such thing as "free."    I think Stephen Harper's bill for accountability is the first step.   Many natives want accountability in their own bands, but are often intimidated and threatened if they ask.  There has been hundreds of news stories on this.   And what is to be accomplished by blockades against Hudbay?
