 The prices are set by two competing points of view that both think  the other is wrong.

Not that simple. Like Little Bush....you are either with us or against us...global politics isn't a binary event and neither is investing.

What about a fund that blows up and is in forced liquidation.....as Jim Crammer wrote in one of his books....the other Hedgies would short the &*&& out of the holdings of the distressed Fund, knowing they had to sell, the underlying value of the Co's they shorted didn't matter. Just sharks circling

Margin calls

HFT

Short attacks

Short squeezes

Insider trading

Seasonality..sell in May and go away
