A reverse split may make the share price higher but will reduce the number of shares proportionately. The market cap will still be the same but there will be no more swill as you put it. The major shareholders and management will not benefit any more than you nor I if there is a split. In fact if history of consolidation tells us anything, the share price will drop even more leaving everyone's investment in the crapper.
