The g/t is the grade of the tonne of ore. You multiply that with the number of tonnes to get grams of gold. Then you convert the grams to troy oz.
Before you apply the percent recovery rate you get the higher number of oz:
53,901T x 5.23g/T x 1 troy oz/31.1g = 9064 troy oz
to apply the recovery rate you multiply by 84.6% (by 0.846) to give the lower troy oz they report 7,655 troy oz.
MTO is therefore reporting the lower oz after applying the 84.6% recovery rate.
If you apply the 84.6% again as in your post, you are applying it twice. DUH
